Cub Scheduling Violations
Important!!! Meeting to Discuss Cub Contract Violations! The Employer lied and is ignoring your contract! Come to the General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 at 6:30 p.m. at UFCW Local 1189 and get involved. Hear what Local 1189 is doing and find out how to help! We are Stronger Together.
With your employer’s new rollout of their “Strong Close/Strong Open” program, Local 1189 is working diligently on our members’ behalf regarding scheduling violations.
In our initial meeting with Mark Merrill and Tracy McDonald on August 12, 2016, we were advised that the Employer would be hiring an additional 5-10 employees per store to support the scheduling changes required in order to make this new program work. At no time did Local 1189 agree to waive historical scheduling, preference of hours or seniority language.
Since our initial meeting, we have notified the Employer of the many contractual violations and personal hardships they have implied on our members – we have requested they provide us with the new schedules prior to them being posted as well as requested meetings with our Meat Department members to discuss these issues. Not only have they not complied with our requests, but they went forward with the scheduling changes which are not only in violation of the contract, but have unilaterally displaced and negatively affected many of your personal lives.
While we have filed grievances on your behalf and have filed unfair labor practice charges with the National Labor Relations Board, we ask that you please attend the upcoming Local 1189 General Membership Meeting on Wednesday, September 21, 2016 so we can personally hear your complaints.
Please contact President Jennifer Christensen or Union Representative Tami Denn-Bauer with any further questions or complaints you have regarding this matter.
