How Does the President's Budget Impact Us?
As a member of our Union family, it is important that you are aware of how the President's budget cuts could impact people you care about.
Social Security cut by $72 billion: People who can no longer work due to serious injury or illness rely on Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) to survive. This cut will jeopardize the ability of millions of families to eat and pay rent.
Food Stamps cut by $193 billion: Food stamps are spent primarily in grocery stores and help countless families feed their children and loved ones. As a result of reduced food stamp spending, people in need will be hurt and UFCW members may see fewer work hours.
Medicaid cut by $610 billion: No one should be worried about taking care of a sick child or loved one. The proposed Medicaid cuts will make it harder for those in need to find affordable medical care and will only add to our growing health care crisis.
Student loan funds cut by $143 billion: College should be affordable for all. At a time when increased skills are critical to our future, this cut will make it more difficult for children of hard-working families to afford higher education.
Your voice matters, our values matter. Your member of Congress is considering this budget right now.
Please make your voice heard. Call them at 202-224-3121. Urge them to pass a budget that helps hard-working families build a better life.
