St. Mark's RNs vote Union YES!

Congratulations to the RNs at St. Marks for voting Union Yes! Management at St. Marks Living in Austin MN attempted to remove UFCW members who were working as LPNs from the Union as soon as they passed their board exams to become RNs.  The Union filed a grievance and charges with the National Labor Relations Board in protest to the employer's actions.  The newly registered nurses had no intention of losing their union protection and filed a petition with the NLRB to be sure that wouldn't happen.  On Tuesday, November 24 the RNs voted Yes! to continue working as members of UFCW1189.  The NLRB is expected to certify the unit within seven days of the election after which time, the Union will schedule meetings to bargain.
