Supreme Court's Decision is anti-Worker

June 27, 2018 - Today the Supreme Court issued a decision designed to decrease the power of working people and their unions. UFCW Local 1189 stands with our brothers and sisters across the nation in the fight against an unjust system heavily weighted in favor of wealthy corporations.

Make no mistake. We, the unions and the hardworking men and women we represent, will not sit back and watch as our living conditions erode; only to see the profits from our hard labors line the pockets of greedy boardroom millionaires.

We will fight back.

We will not be discouraged.

We will not be divided.

We will organize.

We will hold elected officials accountable for this betrayal.

The unions formed by workers created the path to higher pay and better benefits; they built the middle class, and in doing so made the lives of all Americans better.

Our unions are a last line of defense for working people against excess and greed. We will not allow corporate special interests to continue on their quest to destroy unions and take away our power.

UFCW Local 1189 will not rest until justice for all of the hard working men and women is restored.

“In our hands is placed a power greater than their hoarded gold,
Greater than the might of armies, multiplied a thousand-fold.
We can bring to birth a new world from the ashes of the old
For the union makes us strong.”

Solidarity forever!

Jennifer Christensen, President UFCW Local 1189
