Union Members vote to support Executive Board recommendation

Union members voted to support the recommendation of the Local 1189 Executive Board on October 17, 2018 when they overwhelmingly voted to defer the dues increase which would have otherwise been mandated to take place July 1 of this year and would require an increase of .46/week for all members.  The vote authorized the local to defer the increase until June 2019 and to amend the amount of the increase to be .45 per week for Full-time and .30 per week for Part-time.

The defered increase amounts to between 1- 2 cents per hour depending on a members schedule.  To lessen the impact, the increase will take place after the vast majority of the Union's contracts have had increases in wages for members.

Additionally, members voted in favor of the recommended changes to the UFCW 1189 Bylaws.  Changes to the bylaws were necessary in order to keep the local in compliance with the changes made to the UFCW International Constitution (made at the 8th regular convention in April of this year).

Notification of the results of the vote will be sent to members in the coming month.
