2016 Contract Negotiations
Your Union Contract is a legal document that contains provisions related to workers' rights and benefits. Your contract is the result of bargaining between the Union and the Employer beginning with the Union's initial proposal and followed by negotiations on items that affect your job. UFCW Local 1189 is committed to keeping you involved and informed. Regular updates will be available online and by email. (If you would like to receive email updates please contact the office to ensure we have your current email address). When a tentative agreement is reached (or when we receive the Employer's final offer) the Union will schedule a time for you to vote on the proposed changes to your contract. After a majority of voting employees approve their contract language it then goes into effect. If you have questions on the process, please contact your Union Representative.
The bargaining ended Wednesday, October 12, 2016 with a tentative agreement that comes with the bargaining committee's recommendation to accept. We will be voting on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 with a visit to each store for 15 minutes and then Union Representative Jim Gleb will be at the Labor Temple in Eau Claire for a two-hour period so members can stop in and vote on the recommended tentative agreement as well. We will be getting a letter out to all members with store vote times and the time at the Eau Claire Labor Temple as well.
We have had our second meeting now with the employer regarding the contract -- we met on August 25, 2016 and September 9, 2016. We are scheduled to meet again on September 20, 2016. The bargaining committee consists of Janet Bonnin from the Jeffers Rd Holiday, UFCW Local 1189 President Jennifer Christensen and Secretary-Treasurer, Jim Gleb. We have made some progress and hope to be getting to the economic issues at our next session. Feel free to contact Jim Gleb if you have any questions.
