AFL-CIO Leadership Action Update

May 26, 2016  Illinois Labor Movement Rallies Thousands at State Capital:  Thousands of union members, led by Illinois AFL-CIO President Michael Carrigan (IBEW) and Chicago Federation of Labor President Jorge Ramirez (UFCW), rallied in Springfield to protest Governor Rauner's harmful anti-union agenda. "Governor Rauner is determined to ram through his extreme and hurtful agenda," said President Carrigan, "He doesn't care about how much damage he inflicts on you in that process." President Ramirez added, "[Governor Rauner's] agenda will diminish wages, destroy worker protections, and completely wipe out what is left of the middle class here in Illinois."
