Earned Sick/Safe Time Task Force Recommendations Available for Comment

The City of Saint Paul Earned Sick and Safe Time Task Force has completed their recommendations for a possible earned sick and safe leave policy in the City of Saint Paul. Individuals will have upcoming opportunities to provide community feedback before the recommendations are finalized and provided to Mayor Coleman and Saint Paul City Council.  Individuals are encouraged to complete an earned sick and safe time survey online. The survey is available in multiple languages, and will further inform policy makers of community concerns and expectations of an earned sick and safe time policy.  The Human Rights and Equal Economic Opportunity (HREEO) Commission will host a public hearing on Tuesday, June 21, 2016 at the Wellstone Center, Room 212, from 6:00 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. The Earned Sick and Safe Time Task Force Co-Chairs will present the task force recommendations to the HREEO Commission. Attendees will have an allotted time to comment on a potential earned sick and safe time policy.  Following the June 21, 2016 public hearing, the HREEO Commission will present final recommendations to Mayor Coleman and the Saint Paul City Council in July. City council will then begin its legislative process with a potential first reading of an earned sick and safe time ordinance on August 3, 2016.  The Earned Sick and Safe Time Task Force recommendations are now available on the earned sick and safe time webpage and a draft ordinance, based on the task force recommendations, will be available on Thursday, June 16, 2016.
