Meat Packers in Long Prairie Pass a New 5 year Agreement
Union Members at Long Prairie Packing ratified a new 5 year deal that provided an historic first year compensation increase of $1.50/ hour plus a 2% dollar for dollar match into employees 401 retirement plans. The Union and the Employer were able to work out a deal that not only provided for members immediate needs today - increased wages and improved time off benefits, it also provided for their future in the form of an employer contribution to their retirement, The new wages and benefits take effect with the first pay period in January 2021.
President Christensen gave credit to the Union committee for their hard work, "Our members did a great job in effectively communicating the issues that were important to workers in the plant. They were credible, thoughtful, and persistant. Managment listened and ultimately responded with an offer the Union committee could support."
Workers voting by ail ballot because of the covid19 restrictions on large gatherings, overwhelmingly voted yes, ratifying their new Agreement. Congratulations to the workers at Long Prairie Packing, and congratulations to the Committee for your fine work on behalf of the members.
