Apply for the UFCW Local 1189 Scholarship

Apply Online.

To be considered for either scholarship, applicant must be a current and active member of UFCW Local 1189 with at least one year continuous membership effective May 10, 2021.

Complete and submit the application.  This application contains two parts.  Part One will require you to fill out a family profile, list school activities, awards, work location, personal message and completion of an essay.  If you are unable to complete the application online, please contact Local 1189 at 651-451-6240.

Every year the UFCW SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM offers scholarships to UFCW members or their immediate family members who want to further their education and demonstrate a commitment to their communities and to UFCW values.  Since 1958, the fund has distributed more than $2 million in scholarships.* Past winners have gone on to make significant contributions to society and to the UFCW – entering a range of fields including public service, medicine, law, business and teaching.  Many have returned to the UFCW as staffers, organizers, and community activists who contribute to our mission.

Congratulations to the following scholarship winners!

Lauren Henriksen was awarded the Kokaisel Scholarship of $750.  Lauren is a member working for Festival Foods in White Bear Lake and is attending St. Catherine University.

  Charlie Olson, a member working at Cub Foods Stillwater, will be attending the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, was awarded a $500 scholarship

Samantha Nelson, a member working at Kowalski's, who will be attending Century College, is the recipient of a $500 scholarship
