UFCW 1189 Retail Bargaining

Your Union Contract is a legal document that contains provisions related to workers' rights and benefits. Your contract is the result of bargaining between the Union and the Employer beginning with the Union's initial proposal and followed by negotiations on items that affect your job. UFCW Local 1189 is committed to keeping you involved and informed.  Regular updates will be available online and by email. (If you would like to receive email updates please contact the office to ensure we have your current email address). When a tentative agreement is reached (or when we receive the Employer's final offer) the Union will schedule a time for you to vote on the proposed changes to your contract. After a majority of voting employees approve their contract language it then goes into effect. If you have questions on the process, please contact your Union Representative.

Updates

UFCW 1189 members at Lunds & Byerlys overwhelmingly ratified the tentative agreement reached with their Employer on August 18, 2022.  For specific details on wage increases and other improvements, click here.  Thank you to the bargaining committee members Mariah Haney, Deb Pabarcus, Terry McMullen, Terry Hoffmann and Kim Madigan for the many long hours and hard work to reach this agreement for all members.  Congratulations!

Bargaining with Lunds and Byerlys continued today. The parties are very close to an agreement, but unfortunately the Employer refuses to move away from some remaining attempted takeaways. The Union committee is in full agreement that some of these language changes could be damaging to the quality of jobs at Lunds well into the future and the workers are committed to opposing these changes.

Bargaining will resume tomorrow, 8/5, at 9 AM.

UFCW 1189 members under the ARGA contracts -- Super One and Mount Royal Market -- ratified their new three-year agreements on August 2.  These new contracts include contract language improvements and wage increases with NO takeaways.  Congratulations to these members and thank you to all negotiating committee members for their hard work and long hours to secure the new agreements.  Details on the new agreements can be found here:
