UFCW 1189 Retail Bargaining
Your Union Contract is a legal document that contains provisions related to workers' rights and benefits. Your contract is the result of bargaining between the Union and the Employer beginning with the Union's initial proposal and followed by negotiations on items that affect your job. UFCW Local 1189 is committed to keeping you involved and informed. Regular updates will be available online and by email. (If you would like to receive email updates please contact the office to ensure we have your current email address). When a tentative agreement is reached (or when we receive the Employer's final offer) the Union will schedule a time for you to vote on the proposed changes to your contract. After a majority of voting employees approve their contract language it then goes into effect. If you have questions on the process, please contact your Union Representative.
After 16 long hours of bargaining on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, the Union and Employer were able to tentatively agree on the following issues for both Jerry's Cub/Jerry's Foods and the County Market contracts:
On Monday, March 28, the Union committee met with Jerry’s leadership and picked up where they left off on Friday. After some back and forth discussion, the Union secured some important gains in language. The Union also made the difficult decision to drop a couple items in exchange for the Employer dropping several of their proposals.
The bargaining committee met with Jerry's for its first one-on-one negotiating session today, March 25, 2022. Each party responded to the other party's initial non-economic proposals, with some progress being made, but good discussion and feedback from each side on these proposals. In addition to agreeing to the Union's gender neutral language, the Employer has also agreed to adding consecutive days off language to the Jerry's contract as it is in the County Market contract.
