Your Union Contract is a legal document that contains provisions related to workers' rights and benefits. Your contract is the result of bargaining between the Union and the Employer beginning with the Union's initial proposal and followed by negotiations on items that affect your job. UFCW Local 1189 is committed to keeping you involved and informed.  Regular updates will be available online and by email. (If you would like to receive email updates please contact the office to ensure we have your current email address). When a tentative agreement is reached (or when we receive the Employer's final offer) the Union will schedule a time for you to vote on the proposed changes to your contract. After a majority of voting employees approve their contract language it then goes into effect. If you have questions on the process, please contact your Union Representative.


Congratulations to the UFCW 1189 members at Galtier, New Brighton, and Rose of Sharon on the ratification of their new 3-year Collective Bargaining Agreement!  Members will receive a 3% increase retroactive to May 22, 2020, and another 3% increase on May 22, 2021.  Special thanks to the bargaining committee for all their hard work and seeing this process through.  

UFCW 1189 and its negotiating committee have reached a tentative agreement with Villa Health Care for members at Galtier, New Brighton and Rose of Sharon facilities.  The committee was able to negotiate a 3% wage increase in 2020 and 2021.  Ratification votes will take place at each of the facilities on October 7, 2020 from 5:30a-6:30a and 1:30p-3p.  You can view the tentative agreement details by clicking on the link: PDF icon

UFCW 1189 members working under the service-maintenance and the LPNs contract have rejected the Employer's tentative agreement.  Members are looking forward to returning to the table to bargain with the Employer.  Members at Galtier and Rose of Sharon will vote on their tentative agreement in the next couple of days.
