The Union and Employer met on April 6, 2016 to exchange proposals. The Union's proposal consisted of non-economic items for both meat and grocery members. Our goal is to get the non-economic items completed first. The Employer's proposal was mixed meat and grocery language and included some economic changes. Negotiations are scheduled to resume on April 18, 2016.
After several months of meeting, an agreement was finally reached.
On September 1, 2014 the Iron Range Labor Assembly held its 11th annual Labor Day Picnic in Olcott Park in Virginia. The estimated number of people that attended the event was 1200. The Labor Assembly served hot dogs and polish sausage with potato salad, pork and beans, chips, and ice cream bars. We had different games for the children along with a raffle and split the pot for the adults. All the democratic leaders attended this event, including Mark Dayton, Al Franken, Rebecca Otto, Lori Swanson, Representatives Jason Metsa and Carly Melin as well as Senator Dave Tomassoni.
Negotiations resumed with Ogle's on May 5, 2014. After admitting that their proposal submitted to us on April 4, 2014 was copied from another store's proposal, they returned with a 5-item proposal -- saying it was their extreme proposal in response to our extreme proposal -- except they did not receive our proposal until after we received their proposal! They went over their proposal; however, we did not respond. We will continue to keep you updated.

Union Representative and Executive Board Member
Union History: I was a Union member for 25 years before I came on staff. Before I was a staff member, I was a meat cutter with Jubilee foods for the first 18 years and with Super One Foods for the last 7 years. I spent most of my years as a Union Steward, and served 6 years as an executive board member. I have been on staff since mid-2013, most of my time has been spent negotiating and filng grievances. I spent some time in a right-to-work state organizing as well as organizing for our Union.
Why do you do what you do?
I enjoy doing what I do because I believe in the Union and what it stands for.
