UFCW 1189 Membership Vote Results

UFCW 1189 members voted and passed the dues increase and bylaws changes on December 7.  The UFCW 1189 Executive Board recommended raising weekly dues by $1.50 for all full-time members and $1 for all part-time members effective March 1 of each year for the next three years.  By approving the Executive Board's recommendation, UFCW 1189 members understood the importance of maintaining the size of our bargaining committees, continuing to grow our strong steward and member servicing programs and continuing to organize non-union workers and combatting non-union competition that threatens the quality of our collective bargaining agreements.  In addition, UFCW 1189 will be setting up a strike fund with 25 cents per member per week from the dues increase so we are able to take on employers who are not willing to acknowledge members' worth.
